A ghostly experience ...
When I was in my early teens, I regularly stayed at a friend's house on Friday evenings after we had competed at our local tenpin bowling center. He was living with his grand parents after the messy break up of his own parent's marriage. The house was located in a well established neighborhood where all the houses were old, made of timber and had high ceilings. His grand father was an asthmatic and was always hooked up to an oxygen bottle. His grand mother had hip problems and walked with the aid of a walking frame. On many occasions, as we prepared to go to sleep, we would hear footsteps in the hallway outside of our closed bedroom door. No, this wasn't the old wooden floor boards creaking and groaning, these were ACTUAL HEAVY FOOTSTEPS which would stop outside of our room. Sometimes, there would be a KNOCK on the door. Both my friend and I were not scared at all, just very curious. Naturally, we called out to whomever was knocking, to COME IN. The door knob would turn and the door would slowly open. There was NEVER anyone there! A quick check of the grand parents room resulted in finding them both sound asleep in their bed. With their physical condition, there was NO WAY that either of them could be playing pranks on us. The house was TRULY inhabited by a ghost who meant no harm. We tried unsuccessfully a few times to contact the ghost by using a Ouija board. We were VERY disappointed that he/she wasn't prepared to communicate with us. We concluded that they weren't able to communicate due to either a language barrier or because of some other barrier. We never shared our 'ghost' experiences with anyone, but we were both very happy that we had experienced them. |
