Changing the History Books ...
On the 21st July 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first man to set foot on the moon. I was an 17 year old and fascinated by the event that was unfolding. The place where I was employed didn't have a TV set to watch the event, so I made up a story about being sick and needed to go home. My boss at the time allowed me to leave approximately 10 minutes before Neil stepped off the ladder. I worked in the CBD and rushed to the local TV store where many had gathered to watch the event on the TV in the store window. I stood with the others in silence, watching history occurring before our very eyes. The words he spoke as he touched his foot onto the moon's surface, will be forever burnrd into my memory: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Unfortunately, just recently, a voice analysis of the recording made at the time, revealed that those words we heard, the words that were printed in the Newspapers, magazines and history books from that day on, were INCORRECT! What he ACTUALLY said, was: "That's one small step for A man, one giant leap for mankind." This revelation means that all of the history books are now wrong as a result. Knowing this, in no way diminishes the feelings that I had at the time which I remember vividly. The suggestion that the landing and moon walk didn't even take place on the moon, will be discussed forever and a day WITHOUT a clear resolution.
