Left Field Doggy Training ...
My little Jack Russell cross miniature Fox Terrier, aka KAOS, always had a habit of sticking his nose into any cupboard when he found the door to be open. To discourage him from doing this, I told him the following: "One day", I said to KAOS, "a little puppy dog snuck into a cupboard when he found the door to be open. His owner, not knowing the little puppy was in there, closed the door on him, and locked him inside. The owners were sad because they thought their little puppy had run away." I told him, that if HE got into a cupboard, that this could happen to him too and we would be very, very sad. Whether it was the tone of my voice or the mere fact that little KAOS has some common sense about him, my story did the trick, because he no longer bothers sniffing in the cupboards because he remembers my story. :o) |
