News from Australia ...
A friendly wave ended in a young 20 year old man having his arm partially severed yesterday. (14th january, 2008). He was a passenger in a utility, (pick-up truck), as it drove past two young women washing their vehicle at a local car wash. He put his arm out of the window to wave at the ladies as the vehicle he was travelling in was making a right hand turn at an intersection. A similar vehicle travelling in the opposite direction, slammed into the side of their vehicle, resulting in the young man's left arm being partially severed. He is apparently stable after surgery, but doctors believe the limb may eventually have to be amputated. How an act so simple and harmless, probably something we have all done at some stage in our life, can have such dire consequences, astounds me. |
