The Importance of correct Domain Names
When considering what Domain name you should have to best represent your online presence, write your thoughts down on paper BEFORE rushing off to register it. When certain thoughts and ideas run together, the results could be disastrous! Many moons ago, I was in contact with a guy called Allan, who was setting up a website that was promising to get hits to your opportunity website. Well, it was obvious to him what he was going to call his website - Allans Hits - well duh! But when he registered the Domain name, it resulted in www .allanshits.com It was a BIGmistake to have made. Here are some further examples to illustrate what I am saying: 1) Who Represents?, a database for agencies to the rich and famous:
http://www.whorepresents.com 2) Experts Exchange, a knowledge base where programmers can exchange advice and views:
http://www.expertsexchange.com 3) Looking for a pen? Look no further than Pen Island:
http://www.penisland.net 4) Need a therapist?
http://www.therapistfinder.com 5) Mole Station Native Nursery, based in New South Wales, Australia:
http://www.molestationnursery.com 6) Gas central heating anyone?
http://www.gasheating.co.uk 7) New to Milan and you need electric light? Why not sign up on-line with Power-Gen?
http://www.powergenitalia.com A play on words is a good thing at times to be funny, but NOT when you want your online business to be taken seriously. Think about how others will perceive your website address. Make it attractive, easy to remember AND avoid whoopsies like those above. |
